The issue of child abuse and welfare is still a serious concern in Ireland today with over 14% of contacts made relating to this issue. Grainne has launched the new fundraising campaign for the Irish Cancer Society – the Colour Dash. The vibrant 5k fun run will take place on Saturday 27th July in Phoenix Park. This event will be the only powder paint run in Ireland with 100% of money raised going to a charity.

9. Daniel Meister (Expert in Education, Adolescent Counselling, Youth culture) Communications Manager, National Youth Council of Ireland.

9th May, Daniel is organising the launch of (NYCI) report ‘Time to Go?’. It will take place on Thursday, at 11am in the National Library of Ireland. It is the first qualitative study exploring the experience and impact of emigration on Ireland’s youth. The results provide an insight into the opportunities and difficulties faced by young emigrants in Canada, the UK and beyond.

Fiacra welcomes the first ‘All Ireland Tyre Survey’, jointly published by the Dept. of Environment, Community and Local Government and the Dept. of Environment Northern Ireland. Public Health (Sunbeds) Bill

Grainne is concerned at the on-going delays by Government in publishing the Public Health (Sunbeds) Bill. Without regulation, 140,000 sunbed users in Ireland are at risk of developing skin cancer. Nine out of ten skin cancer cases are caused by ultraviolet rays and therefore can be prevented.
