Expert:
Tom O’Dwyer (Expert in Dairy Farming) Head of Dairy Knowledge Transfer, Teagasc.

The Hook: Spring calving pasture based milk production can be a highly labour efficient system of milk production, yet there is a period of acute labour demand in early spring associated with compact calving and calf rearing. This acute labour demand will potentially increase following quota abolition as farmers struggle to cope with larger herds while managing the expansion process. A seminar on this will be held in the City West Hotel in Saggart Co. Dublin on Monday 13th October. For more on this please click here and contact Tom O’Dwyer.

Story Idea: Light at the end of the Tunnel – Life after a Debt Relief Notice (DRN)
Expert: Michael Culloty (Expert in Debt Advice and Consumer Debt Issues) National Social Policy and Communications Officer, MABS.
The Hook: MABS welcomes the announcement by the Insolvency Service of Ireland of the suspension of application fees for the new insolvency options. The fees were one factor, which was preventing many potentially eligible people from applying. Despite their best efforts, too many people remain unable to pay their personal debts. For over 20 years MABS has supported people to work with their creditors to reach realistic sustainable payment agreements.  In many cases this works very well and people get back on track. However, for many this is simply not possible. DRNs can be the solution for people on a low income, with little or no assets and very little deposable income available to repay personal debts under €20,000. Under a DRN it is possible to have all qualifying debt written off. For more on this, please contact Michael Culloty of MABS.
