Story Idea: An olive branch for the Irish coal industry?
Expert: John Sodeau  (Expert in Air Pollution) Professor of Physical Chemistry, UCC.
The Hook: The recently announced ban on selling, buying and burning smoky coal in Ireland for public health reasons is expected to lead to an increase in smokeless coal sales. However current “smokeless” coal is neither smoke-nor sulphur-free and although wood has low sulphur content it produces more smoke than smoky coal! (more…)

Story Idea: Drop in milk prices might help save the planet
Expert: John Sodeau (Expert in Scientific Research) Professor of Physical Chemistry/ Director of Centre for Atmospheric Chemistry, UCC.                      
The Hook: The significant drop in milk prices is partly due to the increase in its global supply now that quotas have gone. At least this will help discourage Irish Farmers from increasing the size of their dairy herds.

Story Idea: Simon Community urge people to sign their letter to Government
Expert: Niamh Randall (Expert in Inequality and Homelessness) National Spokesperson, Simon Communities of Ireland.                       
The Hook: As part of the Simon Communities Homeless Forecast Campaign over 2,500 people have already signed their letter to An Taoiseach/An Tánaiste, asking them to put the homeless and housing crisis at the top of the Cabinet agenda.

“We feel the level of support reflects the very real concerns people have about the growing numbers of people becoming homeless and the extent of the housing crisis’ said Niamh Randall, National Spokesperson for the Simon Communities. “Now we really need more people to follow suit and visit our website, Together we can use our collective voice to stand with people who have been let down for far too long people. Please join us by sending your letter and help end this crushing homeless and housing crisis.
