The Hook: Pharmacists can play a key role in helping patients with chronic diseases adhere to medicines, which can result in significant improvements to health outcomes, the findings of an exciting new community pharmacy based pilot study published recently reveals.Medication non-adherence, where patients fail to take their medicines or fail to take them correctly, can result in poorer health outcomes for patients, with increased hospitalisations, premature death and increased costs and medicines wastage to the health system.

The Hook: Just one in eight properties available to rent come within rent supplement limits, research from the Simon Communities in Ireland has found. The Locked Out of the Market study found that of the 1,150 properties available to rent during the three-day snapshot period just 138 were under rent supplement limits.While rents have increased year-on-year rent supplement limits have remained frozen at June 2013 levels – resulting in an increasingly widening gap between the social protection supports available and real market prices.
