Story Idea: Clean air not air pollution for Ireland in 2016

The Hook: The Asthma Society is launching its campaign to clean up our air in cities, towns and rural areas tonight at University College Cork. The central focus will be to press the government to replace Ireland’s outdated Air Pollution Act with a new Clean Air Act.

The Hook: Prestigious members of the Chinese dairy industry met with leading figures in Irish agriculture this week at Alltech’s European headquarters in County Meath. The meeting set out to encourage closer collaboration between China and Ireland, especially with regard to our respective dairy industries. “Exciting opportunities are available for the Irish dairy industry in China,” explained Kevin Tuck, managing director at Alltech Ireland.

Story Idea: Drop in milk prices might help save the planet
Expert: John Sodeau (Expert in Scientific Research) Professor of Physical Chemistry/ Director of Centre for Atmospheric Chemistry, UCC.                      
The Hook: The significant drop in milk prices is partly due to the increase in its global supply now that quotas have gone. At least this will help discourage Irish Farmers from increasing the size of their dairy herds.
