The Hook: The Asthma Society is launching its campaign to clean up our air in cities, towns and rural areas tonight at University College Cork. The central focus will be to press the government to replace Ireland’s outdated Air Pollution Act with a new Clean Air Act. This action will put the health and well-being of all people living in Ireland to the front and centre of all future environmental legislation.

The Hook: As part of the Simon Communities Homeless Forecast Campaign over 2,500 people have already signed their letter to An Taoiseach/An Tánaiste, asking them to put the homeless and housing crisis at the top of the Cabinet agenda.

“We feel the level of support reflects the very real concerns people have about the growing numbers of people becoming homeless and the extent of the housing crisis’ said Niamh Randall, National Spokesperson for the Simon Communities. “Now we really need more people to follow suit and visit our website, simonhomelessforecast.ie. Together we can use our collective voice to stand with people who have been let down for far too long people. Please join us by sending your letter and help end this crushing homeless and housing crisis.

In Ireland, as in most other countries, cases of murder-suicide are rare. However, since 2004, there have been at least 18 murder-suicide cases in Ireland. The impact of these events can be devastating on families and communities. The National Suicide Research Foundation has examined the international research literature in the area of murder-suicide.
